Forensic Psychologist

Job Description

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is currently seeking qualified candidates for the following positions:

 

 

1.     Forensic Psychologist (Inpatient) - Atlanta (Decatur), Columbus, Milledgeville, and Savannah

 .Completes court-ordered pretrial forensic psychological evaluations to answer questions of competency to stand trial and/or criminal responsibility as a neutral friend of the court.

. Completes assessments on individuals admitted to a State Forensic Psychiatric Unit.

. Completes violence risk assessments (HCR-20 and START) and other psychological testing.

. Conducts treatment groups and psycho-educational interventions (may include sex offender treatment).

. Supervises team leaders and mental health counselors.

. Provides expert testimony.

 

2.     Forensic Psychologist (Outpatient) - Atlanta (Decatur), Atlanta/flexible location (state office), and Savannah

.Completes court-ordered pretrial forensic psychological evaluations to answer questions of competency to stand trial and/or criminal responsibility as a neutral friend of the court.

. Provides expert testimony.

 

3.     Assistant Hospital Forensic Program Director - Columbus, Milledgeville, and Savannah

. Assists the Hospital Forensic Program Director in the administrative and clinical management of a community forensic evaluation team (adult and juvenile forensic psychologists).

. Assists the Hospital Forensic Program Director in the administrative and clinical management of inpatient forensic hospital units (competency remediation, civilly committed incompetent defendants, and NGRI acquittees).

 

 

4.     Forensic Community Coordinator - Multiple locations state wide (locations flexible)

.Master's level (may be ABD), licensure as social worker or mental health counselor preferred.

.Provides case management/regular monitoring of insanity acquittees in the community for assigned area.

.Facilitates competency to stand trial remediation in the community for assigned area.

All of the psychologist positions require a doctoral degree from an APA-accredited psychology program
