The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD), is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Medicaid Eligibility Specialist at Georgia Regional Hospital At Savannah (please visit www.garegionalsavannah.com for more information about the hospital).

Job Description:
Interviews and investigates applicants and recipients to determine eligibility for use of social programs and agency resources. Records and evaluates personal and financial data obtained from individuals. Initiates procedures to grant, modify, deny, or terminate eligibility for various aid programs. This position will complete necessary linkages in regards to obtaining financial resources for the individuals served for the purpose of expediting transition/discharge planning process for the hospital. This position will work closely with various funding sources to streamline the process for the individuals to acquire financial support. Will meet the critical needs to complete and research potential financial resources for the individuals served. Coordinated eligibility determinations and other related activities associated with Medicaid benefits. Will provide liaison services between Department of Medical Assistance, Veterans Administration, Social Security and other state and federal agencies to coordinate benefits and services for the Individual. Provide intakes and reviews on the units. Assist Individuals in applying for Social Security benefits (SSI, SSDI, SSA, Medicare, Medicaid). Participate in Discharge planning to coordinate eligibility determinations. Complete documentation reports of individuals submitted for benefits. Maintain compliance with policies outlined by state, local and federal regulations. Provide appropriate documentation on each case for the active chart on a bi-weekly (twice per month) basis. Maintain competency by continuously reviewing new and current programs to submit effective and ethical recommendations and reports. Perform audits on charts to maintain quality control in compliance with state, local, and Federal guidelines. Complete applications for all eligibility Individuals to include "Presumptive" applicants. Travel to Social Security Office for meetings with individuals applying for benefits. Attend Face to Face Interviews with Individuals at Social Security Office

High School Diploma or GED AND three years of related experience OR Associate degree AND one year of related experience OR Bachelors in a related field

Must have organizational skills, the ability to work in a fast paced arena, and the ability to develop relationships with local funding resources to ensure the continuity of care for mental health individuals.
