The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD), is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Clinical Laboratory Technologist at Georgia Regional Hospital At Savannah (please visit www.garegionalsavannah.com for more information about the hospital).

Job Description:

 Performs laboratory tests for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases Job Responsibilities & Performance Standards: 1. Performs job responsibilities with minimal supervision 2. Serves as job expert or organization resource in assigned areas 3. May supervise lower level staff 4. Analyzes laboratory findings to check the accuracy of the results 5. Collects samples and conducts chemical analysis to determine the presence of normal and abnormal components 6. Defends, interprets and issues report on results of analysis or testing 7. Determines and maintains inventory necessary to facilitate smooth operation of the laboratory 8. Develops, standardizes, evaluates, and modifies procedures, techniques and tests used in the analysis and experiments 9. Establishes and monitors programs to ensure the accuracy of laboratory results 10. May oversee compliance with State and Federal laboratory licensure requirements 11. Monitors staff adherence to and observes principles, rules, regulations and safety precautions 12. Obtains specimens, cultivating, isolating and identifying for analysis 13. Operates, calibrates, and maintains equipment used in qualitative analysis 14. Performs testing and quality assurance procedures requiring additional expertise and/or advanced technology

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related science field AND Two years of experience in a clinical laboratory and Certification as a medical technologist, MT (ASCP), or equivalent certification that meets the personnel qualification requirements pertaining to "technologists" specified in the Department of Human Resources rules for licensure of clinical laboratories.

Preferred Qualifications

Must obtain the Safety Cares certification by completion of new employee orientation. Registered as a Medical Technologist with a national registry. Ability to perform high-complexity testing in the areas of hematology, chemistry, serology, and urinalysis. Also must be an experienced phlebotomist.
