Psychologist - Adult Mental Health
Georgia Regional Hospital - Atlanta, located in Decatur, GA is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Psychologist for Adult Mental Health.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary treatment
team in a psychiatric inpatient setting with adults, whom often are
experiencing severe and persistent mental illness. Evaluate behavioral,
emotional and cognitive disorders through observation, interview, and
interpretation of psychological tests. Apply theory relating to behavior and
mental processes to formulate and administer programs of treatment including
development and implementation of on-unit behavioral interventions, individual
psychotherapy, and group interventions. Engage in supervision or otherwise
participate in a pre-doctoral psychology internship program. Generally, the
psychologist will assist clients in working toward the maintenance and
enhancement of physical, intellectual, emotional, social and interpersonal
Responsibilities & Performance Standards:
- Identifies presenting issues
and develops approaches to treatment for psychological, emotional, or
behavioral issues, using information obtained from interviews, tests, records,
and reference materials.
- Develops and implements
individual treatment plans, specifying type, frequency, intensity, and duration
of therapy or other interventions.
- Consults with
multi-disciplinary treatment team, including the client.
- Counsels individuals and
groups regarding problems such as persistent symptoms, histories of trauma,
impulse control, and interpersonal issues, in order to modify behavior and/or
to improve personal, social, and vocational adjustment.
- Uses behavioral observations, assessment data,
and/or review of records to design specific recommendations for behavioral
- Evaluates the effectiveness
of interventions, and the accuracy and completeness of diagnoses, then modifies
treatment plans and diagnoses as necessary.
- Interacts with clients to
assist them in gaining insight, defining goals, and planning action to achieve
effective personal, social, educational, and vocational development and
- Obtains and studies medical,
psychological, social, and family histories, by interviewing individuals,
couples, or families, and by reviewing records.
- Provides psychoeducational
materials to individuals to promote client empowerment and promote more
- Knowledge of the standards,
practices, and methods in applied clinical psychology.
- Ability to use current, empirically-supported
treatments and interventions.
- Ability to use the systematic
application of learning theory for behavioral interventions.
- Knowledge of psychological
tests, tools, and techniques (e.g. intellectual, cognitive, and objective
- Ability to administer, score,
and interpret psychological tests
- Ability to interpret
statistical measures, to prepare charts and graphs, and write clear, concise

A current Georgia license to practice Psychology

. Full and active Georgia License to practice psychology
. Experience serving psychiatric inpatients and/or people with severe mental illness
. Experience using applied behavior analysis or related learning principles for intervention
. Experience conducting cognitive and personality assessments
