The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD), is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Clinical Pharmacist at West Central Georgia Regional Hospital (please visit http://www.wcgrh.org/ for more information about the hospital).
Job Description
Compound and dispense medications following prescriptions issued by physicians, dentists, or other authorized medical practitioners. Provides consultative services to both clients and health care providers. May supervise support staff.
Job Responsibilities & Performance Standards:
- Performs job responsibilities with minimal supervision
- Serves as job expert or organization resource in assigned areas
- May supervise and/or direct the work of others
- Collaborates with other health care professionals to plan, monitor, review, and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of drugs and drug regimens, providing advice on drug applications and characteristics
- Compounds and dispenses medications as prescribed by doctors and dentists, by calculating, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients, or oversee these activities
- Maintains records, such as pharmacy files, patient profiles, charge system files, inventories, control records for radioactive nuclei, and registries of poisons, narcotics, and controlled drugs
- Orders and purchases pharmaceutical supplies, medical supplies, and drugs, maintaining stock and storing and handling it properly
- Provides information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage and proper medication storage
- Reviews prescriptions to assure accuracy, to ascertain the needed ingredients, and to evaluate their suitability
Shift: M - F ~ 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (possibly rotating weekends, holidays & on call)

Current Georgia license to practice pharmacy AND One year of professional pharmacy experience.

Preference will be given to candidates, who in addition to meeting the above qualifications also meet the following: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree; Psychiatric Pharmacy training, experience, residency, and/or certification.

This position is located at West Central Georgia Regional Hospital in Columbus, Georgia. Columbus, Georgia is an authentic Rivertown. The gently rolling waters of the Chattahoochee have provided food, energy, employment, and recreation for the citizens of Columbus throughout the years. Today, the river is home to the 12-mile path known as the Chattahoochee Riverwalk. The Riverwalk provides an excellent facility to bike, in-line skate, jog, or just take a leisurely stroll and enjoy the scenery. The river is also home to the Chattahoochee Princess Riverboat, an authentic 1880's era paddlewheel riverboat, and the Coca-Cola Space Science Center, the first in Georgia and one of only 32 in the United States.
