Job Description

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD), is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Activity Therapist at Georgia Regional Hospital At Savannah (please visit www.garegionalsavannah.com for more information). 

One Full-time position available

Job Description:

Plan, direct, or coordinate psycho-education and therapeutic recreation programs. Groups include symptom management, recreation for leisure, life & social skills, basic conversation skills, community re-entry, sports, gardening, dramatics, music, social activities, and arts and crafts. Conducts activity therapy assessment of a consumer's leisure strengths & needs and recommend therapeutic recreational activity. Documents progress on each consumer and participates in consumer's individual recovery team.

Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in a therapeutic recreation or related therapeutic discipline (music therapy, art therapy, horticultural therapy, etc.) Note: Some positions may require registration in the area of assignment

 

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field. Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist by the National Therapeutic Recreation Society and licensed in State of Georgia a plus but not required. Must have internship and/or working experience in therapeutic recreation and experience in facilitating therapeutic activity groups and/or psychoeducational activity groups in a psychiatric or rehabilitation setting. Must have a valid Driver's License. Must obtain the Safety Cares certification by completion of new employee orientation.
