Georgia Regional Hospital at Savannah is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Food Service Employee 2. This position will work the 9:30 am -  8:00 pm shift.

Job Description:

Will drive State-owned vehicle, so MUST HAVE VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE from the state in which candidate resides and clear MVR driving record. Perform a range of tasks in food service daily operation such as, food preparation, checking special diet trays to ensure each person receives correct tray, operate and maintain specialized food service equipment. Must be able to troubleshoot equipment and request repairs to be completed by the maintenance team. Must have the ability to communicate effectively to employees, so they fully understand the assigned duties/tasks. Resolve problems and be able to perform daily food service inspections in food preparation, equipment, sanitation in accordance with federal, state and department guidelines. Serve as a Lead worker.

Job Responsibilities & Performance Standards:

1. Performs job responsibilities with minimal supervision 2. Cleans work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, and silverware 3. Cleans, peels, slices and trims foodstuffs using manual and electric appliances 4. Conducts or assists with food supply requisitions and sanitation and maintenance inspections 5. Coordinates the daily work schedule of cashiers with the cafeteria manager 6. Observes safety, sanitation and health rules and standards 7. Must have basic computer skills. 8. Portions food or places it directly on plates for service to facility residents, employees or patrons and packages takeout foods 9. Prepares foods 10. Replenishes supplies of food, condiments, and equipment at steam tables and service bars 11. Serves as a lead worker to assigned food service workers 12. Stores food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage 13. Takes customers' orders and serves customers 14. Trains workers in food preparation, and in service, sanitation, and safety procedures 15. Unpacks and stores supplies, raw and prepared food products


High School diploma/GED AND One year of experience in the area of assignment OR Completion of a vocational/technical school program in a related area i.e., culinary arts, restaurant management, cooking management OR One year of experience at the lower level or position equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

MUST HAVE A VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE with clear MVR driving record to drive State-owned vehicle and meet the qualifications of the driver's policy: 21 years of age with 3 years driving experience. At least one year experience preparing and cooking food in a food service operation (fast food industry does not qualify.)
