East Central Regional Hospital, located in Augusta Georgia, is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Pharmacist (WL).
East Central Regional Hospital is a state operated facility with two campuses, Augusta and Gracewood.
The Augusta campus is a psychiatric hospital that provides care to people with severe and persistent mental illness. The Augusta campus also provides Forensic services. There are treatment units and malls, activity areas, administrative and support buildings on a 310 acre campus.
The Gracewood campus is an ICF/MR and Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) that provides care and services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Gracewood consists of living areas, activity areas, administrative and support buildings spread over a 420 acre campus.
The Pharmacist will have responsibility to compound and dispense medications following prescriptions issued by physicians, dentists, or other authorized medical practitioners Provides consultative services to both clients and health care providers.
Job Responsibilities & Performance Standards:
May supervise and/or direct the work of others.
Compounds and dispenses medications as prescribed by doctors and dentists, by calculating, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients, or oversee these activities.
Maintains records, such as pharmacy files, patient profiles, charge system files, inventories, control records for radioactive nuclei, and registries of poisons, narcotics, and controlled drugs.
Orders and purchases pharmaceutical supplies, medical supplies, and drugs, maintaining stock and storing and handling it properly.
Provides information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage and proper medication storage.
Reviews prescriptions to assure accuracy, to ascertain the needed ingredients, and to evaluate their suitability.
- Current Georgia license to practice pharmacy.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of professional pharmacy and clinical therapeutics.
- Skill in researching pharmacology literature to determine optimal treatment.
- Ability to design the optimal drug therapy for prescriptions.
- Ability to manage the inventory process.
- Knowledge of federal and state accrediting organization requirements
